The Metropolitan Museum is currently featuring the Art Show "Barcelona and Modernity: Gaudy to Dali". The exhibition explores the work - paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, posters, decorative objects, furniture, architectural modes and designs - of Barcelona's artists, architects and designers between 1888 and 1939, when Franco became head of Spain. The dispaly is arranged in nine sections and includes modernist paintings by Ramon Casas and Santiago Rusinol, drawings and models of buildings or furniture by Gaudi and Lluis Domenech, and works by Torres-Garcia and other artists who reacted against the excesses of Modernism in the 1910s and 20s.
