I recently visited Brentwood Bay Lodge on a LL package and had a wonderful trip. I highly recommend this property. Surprisingly, this area of Canada (Victoria) is very nice to visit in January, which seems to be their low season. First of all, this lodge is located in Brentwood Bay, about 20 minutes from the Victoria airport and I'd say around 30-45 minutes from Victoria. Since Brentwood Bay is a very small town, most of the activities we participated in were at the hotel. They appeared to be adding on to the hotel while we were there, but the Lodge thoughtfully provided earplugs and a complimentary bottle of wine and truthfully the noise was not bothersome.
The rooms are large, very nicely appointed, extremely clean and modern-looking with an almost Asian feel. The bathroom was huge with both a shower and a Jacuzzi tub. Also heated floor tiles--VERY nice on a cold morning. I liked the fireplace in the room too. The view of the trees and bay is nice, although partially marred by the ferry dock literally right outside the hotel.
Activities in Brentwood Bay are slightly limited in January. There's a marina and apparently they can provide eco-tours of the bay with whale watching, as well as scuba diving but this wasn't available in January. Theexercise room is attached to the marina and is pretty basic but was fully functional although they could really use a treadmill. It was kind of spooky to walk down a deserted path and along a bridge on a foggy night; I almost felt like a character in a scary movie, but that was mostly due to my overactive imagination, the lighting, and the fog. I also got a massage at the spa which was absolutely decadent. I read some reviews on TripAdvisor that recommended booking early and I would definitely recommend that too. The spa was HOPPING! The staff are professionally trained and incredibly nice, recommending fun activities and good restaurants in the area.
The breakfasts were all included in the LL package and excellent. The staff without fail at this lodge, from waiter to room attendant, were more than happy to accommodate any request. They opened the restaurant (Seagrille)early on the day we left because of our flight time, which I appreciated. The attached pub has great food (especially the burgers!), a large selection of drinks and beers and is apparently a popular neighborhood place too, which is usually a good sign.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel; it isa nice selection for LuxuryLink and I wouldn't have found it without the LL package. Just be aware that activities are limited at some times of the year.
