What a great surprise on a wet and cold Saturday morning! Thanks to all at LL and to the Community leaders for the good wishes and opporutnities. Since I'll be in New York in October anyway, hopefully the event can fall in line with my trip. But in any case, I'm looking forward to meeting the whole crew. Cheers...Marolyn
Your guess is as good as mine as to the dates of the 2007 LL Event at the Pierre in NYC. Until LL spits out the real date of the event all this is just an educated guess but still speculation... So I guess we all will have to wait till LL comes around and announces the date. I assume LL knows the exact date since they announced the event to be at the Pierre, so I take it they have a reservation... you can't just expect the Pierre to have room for 300 guests at any given evening... we just will have to be patient......
I hope the VIP Reception in New York won't be scheduled for the second half of September. That's when we'll be touring the Canadian Rockies about 2,500 miles away. I'm hoping for an early September date, but it already looks like some of the LL Community VIP Contributors have already booked travel arrangements that'll have them far away from NY through ALL of September. The sooner we get a definitive date for this special event from LL the better for all concerned.
October would be the perfect time for me and my wife too. We'd be back from our late September tour off the Canadian Rockies and the last time we visited NYC was also in October a couple of years ago. It was just wonderful. Warm and sunny each day: shirt-sleeve weather.Kids were out playing and couples strolled arm-in-arm without a care in the world. The leaves in Central Park were just starting to turn colour and as we walked down Broadway all the way to Battery Park, there was a special laziness in the air (even amidst the usual hustle and bustle of Manhattan), as if summer just didn't want to let go. A fabulous time!
I'd love to see you and several other LL Community Contributors be designated as VIPs at the end of June this year. It seems though, based on what's happened at least at the end of the past quarter as well as at the end of the one before (i.e. end of Dec. 06) that the deciding criterion may be the quantity of posts as the 'rules' governing this sort of thing have not been set out on the Community to-date. So far, none of the current crop of VIPs had less than 100 posts when they were elevated in rank. It seems clear then that you may want to aim for that number by the end of this coming June. Best wishes to you.
I think September in London or Paris in 2008 would be just marvelousfor a VIP Reception/Dinner gala. It'd not only make it a lot easier for you VIPs east of the Atlantic to attend, but also gives us from west of the "Pond" a terrific chance to combine the VIP get-together with some fabulous travel in the UK and/or in Continental Europe. I look forward to this possibility.
You are quite right, the next quarter might be crucial as to who will be able to attend the VIP Event in NYC and I am afraid I will not make it..... We will have to keep our posts up for the quarter ending in June, if we want to go.... I for one might have some problem staying in the game this quarter as we are leaving for an extended bicycle trip through Southern Germany and Austria and back to Germany from the 18th of April to the 22nd of May. This trip will take us to Nuernberg, Germany where we will start with our bikes south, direction Regensburg, Passau into Schaerding, Austria and back into Germany along the Inn River to Innsbruck, Austria and then over the mountains back into Germany into Seefeld, Mittenwald and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We might do some alpine hiking along the way, maybe climb the Zugspitz, Germany's highest mountain, for old-time sake, and then continue our way up north to the Chiemsee, Munich and along the Altmuehlthal back to Nuernberg from where we fly back to Paris. We will have about 10 days before we set out again on June 2nd till June 22nd for some hiking in the Dolomites. We auctioned a LL package for Castel Fragsburg in Meran, we signed up for a week at Hotel Angelo in Ortisei/St. Ulrich and we have another LL package at the Hotel Gruener Baum in Bad Gastein, Austria, just over the Italian Border. We will be flying back home to the States on June 28. So you see, I will have my work cut out if I want to stay in the game for the next quarter. Oh well, we will see....
