I just joined LL and very new to this. I am a widow, retired, and preparing to travel. I notice that the last info about single travel has been two years ago. Is there anything new? Does LL offer any trips for the single traveler? Their auctions look wonderful, but they are all for 2 travelers.....as far as I am able to see.
Joan, Welcome to LL and our community! There is a thread in the community under "Solo Travel Deals" that has more current information on single supplement charges. It can be found at: http://community.luxurylink.com/luxurylink/board/message?board.id=board-general&thread.id=8185&view=by_date_ascending&page =1 You are correct in your assessment that most of the deals on LL are for 2 people. I would call Jim Sanchez, LL travel concierge, and ask if any of their vendors offer discounts for those traveling alone. He may be able to assist you with a package. With the economy down, there are still great deals to be had. I recently took a European river cruise with Uniworld through LL. It was a wonderful trip that I would recommend to anyone. It is a perfect travel environment for someone traveling alone. You would feel very "at home" and the smaller ship atmosphere lends to easily making new friends and joining in to activities. They have dropped their single supplements for 2010 cruises. They are offering free air on their 2010 itineraries, making them even more inviting. Shy ~
My extended family cruised the Alaskan inside passage this past summer and ended up in Vancouver. We were on the Princess Sapphire, a beautiful ship with lots of amenities for people of all ages. The entertainment was very good, as was the food. Our group ranged from six to seventy five and everybody had a great time.
