Just back from another great Family Getaway with the Pup!
Just returned from the Pier Five property in Baltimore Md. This was our third time within the past 12 months. The LL/Family Getaway staff coordinated the planning and dates. They were even able to modify the dates due to a family emergency. The Pier Five, again, was super! The property is pup friendly. Empress, the concierge, is just so super. She presented us with hugs and food/drink discounts. The LL staff and Empress were even able to book us into the same room that we had the other two times. Great weather, great dining, and an overall perfect overnight getway.
I do wonder why no one else seems to comment about the Family Getaway packages. Is anyone else visiting the Family Getaway section???
Four paws up for The Essex in VT
Our 'family' just returned from The Essex, in northern VT. Clem, the thrown-out cocker spaniel, had a great time! The second day a saucer, with a collection baggie & 2 milk bone type treats appeared at the door! Everyday a new walkies area to sniff and let every dog following know HE was in Vermont. (He was NOT allowed to pee on the daffies, but did find the frequent lamp posts & a red fire hydrant to his liking.)
We went into Burlington for a pilgrimage to American Flatbread one night and enjoyed the entertainment of a pizza-paddle dance in front of their wood fired oven.
Speaking of sniffing, our room was next to one of the demo kitchens, and as things were perking along there, he would stand mid-room, raise his head and sniff, sniff, sniff as he walked to the door to sniff some more! Then on a walk, he met Sawyer, another mature rescued pup, from Boston. Both dogs had their names rooted in Mark Twain!
His people enjoyed the outstanding food - better than dog biscuits - and massages. DH has a pinched nerve, and 'Richard' really went after it, with some follow-up suggestions. Ahhh!
And in the cooking school class we made a big, yummy mess, and waltzed out the door, leaving 'Michael' with several sinkfulls of dishes and pots to scour. Makyla was a cheerful, informed chef and excellent teacher. It was a package we bought with our LL hat certificate.
