With the Pound sterling hovering around $2, we are seriously considering increasing our US travel this year. Are there any LL trips to US wine regions which anyone can recommend form experience? Ideally including some wine-tasting (for someone with a reasonable experience and knowledge of European wine)

California and the West coast of the States are of course quite well known for its wine regions. On the other hand, you might also consider the NY State region of the Finger Lakes and the Niagara region, both US and Canadian. All three areas grow some decent wines, especially white wines and ice wines, and of course, the Great Western Champagne comes from Upstate New York as well. There is also a large area on Long Island (off NY City) that grows wine, and as an added plus, Long Island has superb beaches. There are some nice LL properties in the Niagara on the Lake area. I suggest you check them out. Of course, you are very smart to concentrate your travels from the UK to the US since your Pound gives you an excellent bargain in the US at the moment.
