I am a long time L.L. customer/member with a minimum of three trips per year. In May I bid and won two vacation pkgs. One was to Madrid which we immediately booked and enjoyed. So much taht we extended our stay by an additional 5 days. The other was a 5 day trip to Las Brisas (Acapulco). Several life changing issues arose. Amoung them, my business went into escrow for sale, my mom was forced to move into a full care convalescent Care facilty,my daughter became engaged to be married. Long story shortened --We missed the "Window" for the Mexico trip and I am wondering if either the resort or L.L will honor any part of the trip or apply a partial refund towards another trip or destination. What's the best approach?? Will I be forced to just "Eat" the $1100.00?? Thanx in advance.. BW.Food
Hello BWFood I would suggest that you call the property immediately to see if they would be willing to extend the validity date on your trip. You did not mention how long ago the "window" expired. If you are willing to take an out of season date with the property - they may be more likely to extend your valid dates. I would try to have dates in mind when you call. LL customer service would be another option to call, however it does clearly state expiration dates on packages. I still think an off season time and a call to the resort may help. Best of luck in your current difficult situations I understand - we had a year like that last year with some lingering issues this year. Try to think Happy New Year...time does travel on and heal all things ...Funtimes
Sorry about your troubles...Maybe the property will give you a credit toward a new trip if they won't extend the package time limit. I doubt you could covey all of this into a phone call. I'd write a letter, in Spanish, asking for their kindness.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficult time you've been having -- hopefully things have been at least partially sorted.
I'd also recommend writing to the property and to LL and seeing if there is anything that can be done. In my experience, most hotels are quite understanding about family crises and will do their best to accommodate you, though they are much more likely to let you change the dates or offer credit towards a future stay than to offer a refund.
Thanx all for the responses. The trip expired in Dec (23rd). I have written a letter in Spanish and asked for a partial credit on a visit during off peak season. I will keep the L.L. Community informed of their response.
Again, thank you for your time. I live in Napa and if anyone needs specific "Wine Country" info, let me know.
I've been here for 15 yrs and have a good handle on the travel biz here. Thanx, Brian
