St George Residence – Budapest
I thought I would do a quick review of the property since I bought my package on Luxurylink . I stayed for 3 nights back in February.
In my opinion the hotel was great! The location was on the Buda side, near the Buda castle in the castle district. It was a very pretty and somewhat quiet area. It was nice to be able to walk to the castle and other sights in the area. From the castle you can walk a bit further down the steps to the one of the bridges (I forget which one exactly) and cross the river. Then you are no to far from some other sights ands and shopping.
The hotel service was excellent. They were very accommodating and friendly. We arrived late at night and had no problems. One dinner in the restaurant was included in our package. The night we planned to have dinner we were so tired from sightseeing and we were not hungry at all because we had eaten a very late lunch.. We asked if they would bring the dinner to our room instead of having it in the restaurant. No problem.. they did that as well.
The room was spacious and comfortable, It had a kitchenette and a living room with a table and chairs and a sofa. All of that for a very good price!
Overall I would recommend the hotel. I think my friend would have rather stayed on the Pest side but I really like the coziness of the Buda side and the quietness of the hotel. If you want to go out and party at night then you have to take a taxi over to the pest side, but if you just want to find a restaurant, or a café during the day there are definitely some nice ones near the hotel. Taxi’s are cheap anyway.
Also, if anyone does head to Budapest I highly recommended doing a tour with My Personal Budapest. Can’t beat it. And don’t miss going to one of the bath houses in winter.

We also did St George in off season, when my husband was flying the route for the airline. I got such a cheap deal on auction and used a GC so it cost very little per day. The transfers were a big deal for me, since I couldn't get on his flight, I flew to Paris and connected to Budapest one hour late. (normally I can ride free w/crew from BUD to city) The hotel took care of the change.
We had a massive suite--also w/kitchenette--wasn't that NICE!! So we had a party for the crew.
Our bath was a bit odd--a tub w/shower but no curtain/stall...no WIFI--have they figured that out? We were told that the walls are toom thick to allow air signal.
I agree about the Buda side for less tourist drama on the street--it's just a bit more effort to get up the hills from the river.
I would happily go back to St George--their service was great!
Thanks for the referral for the Tour company--we're going in the next few months--we plan to take the Amphibus!!

Do you recall your room number and where it was--1st or 2nd floor? Is there a pic on the website?
Also--which baths did you visit?"wherever you go, there you are"
