We stayed at the Trianon Palace this fall. We purchased a three night package from Luxury Link for somewhere in the vicinity of $1200.00, can't remember exactly. Package included one dinner and breakfast every morning. There is not a free shuttle, and rest assured I checked (at least this is what the main desk told me). Don't know where that comment came from unless they thought the bus which does run from the front of the hotel into town was a shuttle. Bus runs about every hour on the hour. The room was beautiful and roomy and overlooked the park. Nice closet area; beautiful bathroom with shower, separate tub, separate toilet area, big vanity and huge window which opened to let in a breeze. Little balcony from the room which was big enough to stand on and drink your champagne. Bed and linens were exceptionable. The staff went out of their way to take care of every need. The Trianon is somewhat out of the way. About a thirty minute walk to the train station up a hill. You can get into Versailles from the back entrance. The food was delicious; the service was excellent; and the setting was quite nice. We walked into the town each day or took the bus if it was a short wait, and ate or drank at the restaurants. Recommend Le Limousin highly for lunch or dinner. We would stay here again, but it is not a ten minute train ride into Paris. As I said, you must walk or take a taxi or time you goings to fit into the bus schedule. Once you get to the train station and board your train, it is about a twenty minute to twenty-five minute train ride to the main part of Paris. If you take the train from Paris to the train station at Versailles late at night, you will have a problem in that there are no taxis from the train station at that time of night to the Trianon, as we found out. Bus stops running around 9:00 p.m. After a day of walking from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, we wanted to cry when we found out there are no taxis driving down the main street and we would have to walk; three Parisians took pity on us and drove us to the Trianon. Now that was a god send. If you want to spend a weekend exploring Versailles, i would recommend this hotel. if you want to spend the time exploring Paris, I would not stay here, but in Paris.
I agree with your assessment whole heartedly: "If you want to spend a weekend exploring Versailles, i would recommend this hotel. if you want to spend the time exploring Paris, I would not stay here, but in Paris". Your statement says it all. Time permitting, I would spend a few days in each location. Luckily on your return trip from Paris, you fell on some kind soules in Versailles that drove you back to your hotel, a credit to the often portrayed "nasty French"!
I am glad to see there are two opinons on this hotel as I have a five night package coming up this March. Thanks to both reviewers to the recommendation that the food in the restaurant is okay and not to expect too much. I travel as often as I can to Paris to visit family and am well aware that rooms are on the smaller side. I paid $1300 for our package, it includes deluxe room w/ city view, upon arrival bottle wine & cheese, buffet brkfst, 3 course dinner, 60 min massage for 2. Comparatively to the other package posted, it certainly was not the $500 package deal. However, considering the exchange rates USD to the Euro, I am okay with the price. Hopefully, our experience will be fantastic and will post a review upon return.
I just returned from our LL-5 night stay at the Mon Hotel. While my stay at the hotel was uneventful I cannot sincerely recommend this property. I found the staff to be efficient with service but not particularly sincere. All staff spoke perfect English to me and requests were handled quickly. I concede that this may be a cultural difference. The rooms are small but that is not my complaint. The rooms themselves are a bit ragged and beat up. The bathroom was not spotlessly clean, there was grunge/dirt in the crevices of the tile work. This may sound picky, but at a 4**** star property one should not have a cleanliness complaint. The beds were comfortable enough, however the pillows were horrible and lumpy/flat. It was understood the food was okay. If it wasn't for the 100E credit from the package we would've never ate there. The hotel decor was fun, hotel location is incredible. You are only a few blocks from the metro station and there are many many restaurants in the area that are so much better. The spa is nothing to rave about other than the convenience of having it in your hotel. The masseuse and pedicurist were professional and delivered an incredible massage/pedicure. My complaints of service may be colored as I had just returned from a LL-5 night stay at the Hotel 41 in London. And while I understand the 41 is a 5 star property, the differences in service were very stark. The Mon Hotel tries to be different and it does succeed, however, it is not special. It was a nice enough stay but I would not choose to return.
I read your evaluation of the Mon Hotel with interest and it sounded fair to me. One point though, you said you paid $1300 for 5 nights for your package. That is still a good value and fair deal. Where in Paris can you go for $260 a night and get free breakfast and a $100 dining credit thrown in as well as a couple of massages. Compare this to the Hotel Regina which currently is on auction for 5 nights for $2115. I can think of special places to stay in Paris, but at considerably higher costs. It was good to get your evaluation on this property.
