I'm relatively new to the LL Community and see that beside my posts I'm listed as a "Conrtibutor". But, I note that at least one other contributor's listed as a "Regular Contributor". What's the criteria?
I've also tried to find out a bit moer about how you jump from one level to another, but there doesn't seem to be much information around on the subject. I don't suppose one of the LL admin users could fill us in could they??
Well what do you know, you became a "trusted contributor". So there are still different levels we haven't encountered yet. If you look at one of my earlier posts, I observed that you go from New User to Community Member to Contributor to Regular Contributor. status after a certain number of messages. You are the first Trusted Contributor I have seen. I assumed it had something to do with how many messages you posted. I have observed that many Community Members passed to Contributors after about 25 posts. So I have no idea what the criteria for Regular Contributor and a Trusted Contributor is, if it is not a the number of messages you have posted. This would be a good place for a LL Moderator to comment.
I on the other hand am still struggling to find the "forum" etc. to for enabling the rating system for my posts. I see you and others have found them. Could you or someone else please talk me through this one or enlighten me. Thanks
How about that! I wonder what I did to become "trusted"? And, how did you pass from from a plain "Contributor" to a "Regular Contributor"? without passing through the "trusted" stage??? I wish the good folks at LL would enlighten us all. On the topic of "rating", I've just started to see a rating box appearing at the bottom of your replies to my posts. When I do, I click one of the 5 boxes avalable. Surprised you have not had the same boxes put on my replies to you...odd. Maybe this mystery will also soon be resolved somehow.
I still haven't discovered how to put on the rating boxes. I noticed you did. Could you please enlighten me on how to do it????. Also check out the LL Moderator_jh replies to some of our questions about the various stages and color designations, etc. Apparently, the rating does count heavily in your ranking. She didn't clarify the Trusted and Regular Contributor status. However, she explained that they are still working on the color coded names and bold vs. regular type phase. So it seems not being able to invoke the ranking system, I am somewhat at a disadvantage...
She also said the rating is anonymous, however, I could see your rankings to my posts, I am sure you can see mine.... I think the LL Administrators and Moderators still have their work cut out for them and they are still in the learning stages themselves and are experiencing growing pains.... Interesting boards though.... Hope to hear from you.
The rating boxes just appear automatically now at the bottom of replies, your's and others', to my posts and questions. LL's "Help" function is quite confusing, as we know it tells you to log into their "Forum" section BUT don't actually seem to have such an animal anywhere on the LL website!!! Good to know the route to becoming a "VIP" Contributor depends at least partly on the ratings one's posts get from others. I will now be much more discerning in making my rating decisions, especially when looking at certain high-volume and high-value-added contributors, who deserve to achieve the highest status.
You say the rating appears at the bottom of the message. But when you look at my posts, there are no rating boxes there. I had looked at the help funtion and saw the Forum mentioned, but you are right, I haven't found it anywhere on the LL site. And yes, with the rating being visible as to who has given it, it puts the rater some whata ill at ease. Anyway, what can I do so these rating boxes will appear on my posts???
Don't really know. Think we'll need to rely on LL Moderator to shed light on the inner workings of th rating system. As far as I can tell, ratings boxes show up automatically on all posts/messages that I click on except on my own (assume that's so that I can't rate my own). Find it strange that you are not able to see the same ratings boxes on other people's posts/ansers to your posts.
Congratulations, you made "regular contributor" after your 50th post. So it does seem to go by the number of posts... my guess... And I just figured out why I couldn't see the "Rate this message" on my own posts. It is because you cannot rate your own posts, therefor the rating does not appear on your own posts. Only other members can rate your post. The "Rate this message" appears automatically once you post your message for others to rate. It took me a while to realize what was happening. I guess now that the rating system is enabled, we ought to look at the messages from way back more carefully and rate them for contents and substance. Obviously, a mere "thank you" shouldn't rate much higher than a "1", but there are lots of really good messages there that easily rate a 4 or 5.
Thanx! Feels good to be elevated to such an exclusive rank (from what I can see on the LL site, right now only the two of us are at this level). My guess is that the next may be "VIP"!? Yes I too finally clued in to the rating system and have gone back through ALL the posts on the site to rank everyone, but my own of course. Hopefully, other folks will do the same, so that we get a more representative basis of rank.
