Each week, Luxury Link will showcase an exclusive interview with one of our valued hotel partners. This week, please enjoy our conversation with Joseph Gardon, Guest Relation Manager of Le Meurice, one of Paris' most elegant and historic hotels...
Q) What is unique about a guest’s experience at Le Meurice?
A) At Le Meurice, opulence and comfort are not confined to the hotel’s public areas alone. Every room and suite is a spacious, peaceful oasis of calm, providing guests with the ultimate luxury experience. Each of the seven floors has a distinct style, with 160 beautifully appointed rooms decorated in a style redolent of Louis XVI.
Q) Can you explain what makes Le Meurice's location in Paris appealing to travelers?
A) Le Meurice benefits from a unique location in the heart of Paris. Within walking distance from the most vivid, attractive and interesting places in Paris, Le Meurice’ surroundings combine: Nature with the Tuileries Garden opposite the hotel; culture with the Louvre, Orsay museums, the Opera House, the theatres, etc; shopping in the rue Saint-Honoré, Place Vendôme with luxury brands and jewellers (Chanel, Hermes, Gucci, Cartier, Chaumet, Goyard, etc…) as well as luxury stores and boutiques showcasing young French designers and Parisian life with restaurants, bistrots, terraces.
Q) Are there any “must-try” dishes or drinks at the resort that guests should order?
A) All the dishes at Le Dali or le Meurice Restaurants are amazing. Guests can also enjoy a drink at Bar 228; cocktails Starcky or 228 are “must-try” drinks.
Q) What are the three things about your property that guests may not know?
A) 1 - Some guests may not know that the artist Salvador Dali used to live in our hotel and that Pablo Picasso got married here.
2 - Our mascot is a lovely little white dog named “Pistache“.
3 - And finally we have an amazing frosted mirror in the lobby, where guests can write what they want before leaving.
Q) Can you take me through what a guests stay would be like and what an average day might entail in terms of activities, etc?
A) Paris is one of the most romantic, stylish and exciting cities in the world and our guests are perfectly placed to discover its myriad treasures. The Tuileries Garden, Place de la Concorde and the Louvre are on our doorstep; but venture further and you will find the world’s finest museums and galleries, theatres, a shopping heaven and exceptional restaurants.
Q) Have you had any notable guests or celebrities visit that you can share?
A) Artists, writers, musicians, and intellectuals who have stayed at the Hotel Le Meurice include Giorgio de Chirico, Rudyard Kipling, Liza Minnelli, Orson Welles, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Fred Zinnemann, Jane Fonda, Coco Chanel and Guy Laroche.
Q) What elements about your property are truly luxurious?
A) Our Belle Etoile Suite, on the seventh floor, has a vast private terrace with spectacular panoramic views of Paris. Our guests can now also enjoy a great moment at our new Spa Valmont for Le Meurice.
