Each week, Luxury Link will showcase an exclusive interview with one of our valued hotel partners. This week, please enjoy our conversation with Beth Hart, Marketing Manager of La Perla Del Caribe, a tropical resort utopia on the north end of Belize's Ambergris Caye...
Q) What makes La Perla Del Caribe a unique experience for guests?
A) La Perla is a secluded private enclave on northern Ambergris Caye with the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere just 1/3 mile offshore.
Q) Can you explain what makes Ambergris Caye appealing to travelers as a vacation destination?
A) Our guests enjoy staying in comfortably luxurious private villas set amidst a beautifully kept, yet natural beach setting. Being six miles from town, the property is extremely quiet. At night, there is no “light noise”, or street noise, and you can hear the sound of the surf breaking on the reef.
Q) What are the three things about your resort that guests may not know?
A) 1 - We provide full concierge services.
2 - La Perla Villas (12 in total) are spread over five acres.
3 - Each villa has unique artwork, decoration and furnishings.
Q) Can you take me through what a guests stay would be like and what an average day might entail in terms of activities, etc?
A) Most of our guests enjoy some form of watersports. We work with dive and tour companies that pick our guests up right at the resort. Local diving and snorkeling are generally half day activities at such places as Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. Experienced divers often choose to dive the famed Blue Hole which takes a full day.
We do not offer food and beverage service so our guests usually stock the villa with snacks and breakfast foods, then dine out for lunch and dinner. There are three good restaurants within a seven minute walk along the beach or guests can plan a trip to the mainland of Belize. Guests can coordinate their trips to the mainland of Belize with our tour company to ensure visits to several Mayan ruin sites and the Lamanai River/Jungle Adventure.
For those guests who simply want peace and quiet in a gorgeous natural setting, they’ve come to the right place. Guests can choose to spend their vacations however they wish without interruption from us.
Q) What elements about your property are truly luxurious?
A) The villas are extremely spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated with original artwork, handicrafts and antiques. At the same time, they are comfortable, with nothing too precious that it cannot be touched or used.
Q) What advice do you have for guests who are staying at your resort?
A) My advice would be to not resist nature’s call to relax by over planning your time with us. Leave some space and time open for serendipity; letting the peace and quiet and beauty work their own magic.
Q) What is the best time to travel to La Perla Del Caribe?
A) We’re in the Caribbean so it’s almost always gorgeous. Summer and fall are warmer than average offering a great time for fishing and snorkeling. Late November through February bring cooler temps - but it’s still tropical!
