Last week we were visiting friends in Warren, Vermont and stopped by at the Pitcher Inn, which Luxury Link currently has on its auction offering list. The Pitcher Inn is a member of Relais & Chateaux, the Inn's philosophy emphasizes the 5 Cs: calm, cuisine, character, charm and courtesy and I must say, they have succeeded on all five accounts.
The Pitcher Inn is a quiet kind of a place. The little village of Warren is a quiet, peaceful, old-fashioned kind of a place – quintessentially
A favorite place for us to visit in southern Maine, before the summer hoards arrive, is Ogunquit.

After all, there are plenty of options for historic inns and bed & breakfasts located along the southern Maine coast, and especially in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport (even consider the Franciscan Guest Housewww.franciscanguesthouse.com[as in Franciscan Monks], just across the bridge over in Kennebunk Beach). No, better scratch the monks probably not our style.

With my 25th wedding anniversary rapidly approaching and no ideas what to get for my wife, I spent hours scouring Luxury Link and other websites for ideas. When the Willows Lodge in Woodinville, Washington appeared as an auction item, I placed a bid and was elated to get the package. I am heading to the house my father built. It's an old tobacco barn, converted to a home. It was started in the sixties and originally housed my grandmother's art studio, grandma and grandpa. All the interior doors were made by Dad--rough cedar panel with diagonal cross framing. Mom and Dad moved in after my grandparents passed away. All the land was lovingly landscaped and mowed for so many years--by Dad--riding over a couple of acres of not-so-flat-land. Bamboo that overgrew and invaded the patio
