A Fez to Remember

Ultimately it was a good thing to have my nose covered. After 2 days back, the stench is out of my sinus cavity and I can enjoy the smell of homemade bread and the scent of spring flowers Ah, home sweeeet home!(not Alabama, but not so far from it)
My mother asked about our trip and on a one-ten scale I gave it a 7 for interest and 5 for enjoyable destination. I have been to Arabic countries and they are not my favorites, due to some cultural issues--like begging and hustling. I also dislike the common practice of lying--it's part of the game--"oh, no, Madam, I do not want any money, I just want to help"--then the hand is out and you're embroiled in a verbal fracas on the street. When there is a rare moment of sanity, like a set price, it boggles the mind. Why are so many people such a hassle? They are so nice when you meet and speak and learn. The generosity and kindness of most Fassis is notable yet there is this split personality when it comes to money. Even some hotel staff was dodgy about charges and services. We made some arrangements, they messed up and we paid anyway. This was all after-the-fact and not apologized for until after our return. The email reply to our concerns was flippant and cursory.
All in all, we saw some interesting places and took some nice pictures. That's about it.
