This is a short blog - about a short stay at the Luxury Link property, the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in La Jolla, California.
I recently enjoyed a girls get together with 2 girlfriends who live on the west coast (Los Angeles and Seattle). We stayed at a condo in La Jolla for our get together, and since I had never been to the San Diego area previously, I decided to spend a couple extra days on my own in the area. After mentioning a couple of the possible Luxury Link properties to my friend who is originally from the San Diego area, she did not hesitate in recommending Estancia. She was right!
The location was perfect, in a nice quiet area, but close to everything. For golfers, it's a stone's throw away from the Torrey Pines Golf Course and Lodge, which I visited while in the area. The grounds and gardens of Estancia are beautiful with walking paths over the 10 acres of their grounds. In the late 1940ís, an affluent family purchased a prime parcel of land from the prominent Scripps family in the coastal village of La Jolla. The property was then turned into an equestrian estate and training ground for young thoroughbred horses. Of course the famous Del Mar racetrack is not far away. Inspired by the rich history of the property, the hotel reflects the rancho-style architecture and landscape that was first introduced to Southern California in the 1800ís by Spanish Colonizers.
Checkin was a breeze even though I arrived early, and I must say the service from the staff - from the valet to the front desk to the restaurant and spa staff - throughout my stay was excellent! There were a couple of conferences also going on while I was there.
The package I purchased included 2 nights, breakfast for two each day, valet parking and a 3 course dinner for two on one night, but not the resort fee. Prior to my arrival, I emailed the hotel to confirm my reservation and to notify them that there would be one guest, rather than two. They quickly responded and indicated they were happy to update my package for dinner for one guest for two nights, a nice touch. One day I visited the awesome San Diego zoo - wow it is large! I really enjoyed the new large koala exhibit, "Koalafornia" that just opened in May of this year. The other day I just relaxed, enjoying the fitness center, the pool and the spa with a facial and a massage. I definitely recommend the massage therapists there; they offer some unique treatments and do a wonderful job.
Sadly, I'm unable to post any photos because my camera disappeared while on my visit to California, actually prior to my stay at the Estancia, so I can't blame the hotel.
Would I return again to the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa? You betcha!
