The Donald Would Be Proud

When I travel alone I have no problem with staying near the grittier parts of town, or in less than the top tier, five star establishments in the vicinity. If the place is clean and itís only for a night I really donít bother with doing much research when it comes to where I bed down.
When I travel with my wife, however, the story changes dramatically, because I try my best to stay in the nicest establishments possible, enjoy our time together, and yes, even get pampered a little. We both work hard, and from time to time we deserve a little pampering. Letís face itÖeveryone deserves it from time to time.
Such was the case with our two night stay in Panama City, Panama, and why I chose the Trump Ocean Club International Hotel for our accommodation.
Especially since neither my wife nor I had ever been to Panama before, we wanted to stay in a place we knew we could trust as far as security was concerned, and after doing the requisite due diligence we decided the only place we would consider was the Trump.
Yes, I realize how smarmy the previous statement seemed, even to my own eyes, but Iíve been to enough countries and have had enough unpleasant experiences to know that not every place is friendly, hospitable, or even safe.
After an interesting ride from the airport during a rainstorm with such heavy downpour one could barely see two car lengths in front of them, we made it to the Trump where a young man wearing a safari hat opened our door and welcomed us.
The service from the bellboys to the desk clerk to the concierge was what one would expect from a top tier establishment, and after a lengthy trip such as we had, all one really wants is to efficiently, painlessly, and expediently get to their room.
There are two things about the Trump Ocean Club that stand out in my mind, and that is the view from our balcony, and the bed.
If you have ever stayed somewhere and the only thought going through your mind was how to fit the bed in your suitcase, you know what I am talking about. This was, bar none, without a doubt or a momentís worth of hesitation, the most comfortable bed either I or my wife ever slept in. We even went so far as to look for a tag of some kind to buy one when we got home, but no such luck.
Our room being near the sixtieth floor also offered an amazing view of the ocean. The hotel itself sits on the tip of a triangle of sorts, so to the left, and to the right, all you see is clear blue water. Only if you lean out over your balcony do you see the city or the buildings. If itís storming, the view is that much better as the juxtaposition of the dark clouds with the blue water makes for a breathtaking combination of colors.
For those willing to pry themselves from the beds, put on a swimsuit, and take the elevator ride down, the infinity pool is also worth checking out. All in all the Trump Ocean Club International is impressive both in size, luxury, and placement. Given the efficiency of the staff, and the professionalism of everyone involved with such a large operation I am quite certain even the Donald would be proud.
