I recently returned from a very relaxing vacation in Italy. I decided to have a nearly unstructured holiday, very few bookings, very few plans, no car, no frustrations on Italian roads. Of course, it helps that I have many friends to stay with throughout Italy, and that I have better than passable Italian, but I approached this adventure as a light nomad traveller, something that I havent done for many years.
Just returned from an overnight getaway to Washington DC. This was my husband's 50th birthday. He didn't want a party, hoopla, or any type of crowd activity. His idea was for the three of us (him, me, and our Scottish Terrier, Bonnie Joy), to get away. I did research on properties within a few hours of our home and found the Fairmont Washington DC would accomodate us.

Ahhhthe hidden wonder in the woods. Its amazing how many people live in this areaor go to school close by and have never been to the Mohonk Mountain House. This interesting resort, perched on a mountaintop, truly is a destination.
The very first time my husband and I went to the Mohonk Mountain House we were kind ofho hum about the whole thing. Our friends told us all the time about how we just HAVE to visit here or HAVE to visit there. This time our friends insisted we join them for
here my A320 window seat, bumping along around 30,000 feet, trying to recover from several days of in Honduras.might as well pound out a few lines on my notebook and share the adventures.
Nope, nothing like my last trip to this Central American paradise when we staying at Pico Bonito, courtesy of the minimum bid auction we scored at Luxury Link.
This time it was a lot more basic, a little less expensive and a humbling authentic journey.
